Lectures – several booked for next year (on The History of the English Garden, with Powerpoint). Also a commission to speak about the new book (Mithras to Mormon – The Religious History of London) from several libraries, especially the London Library (January) and the Library of Lambeth Palace (also January). And a couple more for U3A.
Garden News – Lawn is still a bit bare, though improving in the rain. Much work to do before winter sets in: bulbs to plant, pruning, border cleaning etc. Great help from Gail, the efficient and knowledgeable lady gardener who is cutting back and clearing. It’ll be wonderful next year.
Wild Life – New bird table as the old one rotted. The bird population of Totteridge now knows all about it and is investigating. Feeders are still popular: blue tits, great tits, goldfinches, and a great Spotted Woodpecker. Trying to encourage hedgehogs but no luck so far.
